This hiking and trekking tour of medium difficulty takes you deep into the Andes Cordillera between the lakes Todos Los Santos and Rupanco. You will be able to enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding landscape including rivers, volcanoes, valleys, and forests. The hiking time is around five hours a day during three days, while the first and last day are required for arrival and departure from and to Puerto Montt Airport.
This trip begins at the airport of Puerto Montt in Southern Chile’s Lake Region. We meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in the nearby lakeside town, Puerto Varas. Here, you meet your guide during a briefing for the upcoming trekking. Afterwards, you are free to walk along the beautiful coastal promenade and relax in one of the many good cafés, while enjoying spectacular views of the area’s snow-covered volcanoes.Accommodation: 3*-Hotel in Puerto Varas
After pick you up at your hotel this morning, we travel along the shores of Llanquihue Lake towards the Vicente Perez National Park. Eventually, we reach the Todos Los Santos Lake beneath Osorno Volcano. A boat takes us across its tranquil emerald water surface, surrounded by spectacular mountains. After less than an hour, we disembark at the remote trail head in El Callao Valley. The path leads through the pristine landscape of Chile’s oldest national park, protecting the lush temperate rainforest that is so typical for this region. It takes around four hours to reach the hot springs on the banks of El Callao River. With a temperature between 39° and 42° C (102° – 108° F), they offer maximum relaxation after this first day of hike.Accommodation: Mountain cabin if available, otherwise tent. You are welcome to start the day with another bath this morning. Afterwards, the hike continues for approximately five hours until reaching Laguna Quetros. Enjoy the views to Puntiagudo Volcano, whose distinctive pointy appearance owes to erosion after many years of inactivity.Accommodation: Tent or out in the open if weather is favourable. The last part of our hike takes us back to civilization today. The path leads mostly downhill until reaching Rupanco Lake. A boat awaits us to take us to the lake’s western shore, from where a transfer takes us back to Puerto Varas.Accommodation: 3*-Hotel in Puerto Varas. (Breakfast, lunch)
Take a last look at the perfectly cone-shaped Osorno Volcano, before leaving Puerto Varas today. We bring you back to the airport in Puerto Montt, from where you can take a flight back home via Santiago, or continue your journey in another region of Chile.
