SOUTHERN PATAGONIA
KAYAKING WITH THE HUMPBACK
(4 Days / 3 Nights)


DAY 1: PUNTA ARENAS - SAN ISIDRO LIGHTHOUSE

Early in the morning at 08:00 o´clock we will be picked up at our hotel in Punta Arenas or at the airport in order to drive to the lighthouse of San Isidro Cape. Here we do embark and during our navigation through the Strait of Magellan, there is a high chance of observing the southern dolphin. We arrive at the San Isidro Inn where a warm Coffee will be expecting us. We continue with an excursion to the kaweskar representation at Eagle Bay (whaling society operation place 1905-1907) and at San Isidro Lighthouse and surroundings. We will have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon we do participate in a safety briefing and learn the roll techniques practice. Afterwards we will do a short kayak excursion to Eagle Bay o Nassau Islets of about 4 hours length, during which we observe the coastal fauna. We do have dinner and accommodation at the lighthouse Faro San Isidro lodge in double rooms with private bathroom.

DAY 2 SAN ISIDRO CAPE - FRANCISCO COLOANE MARINE PARK, CARLOS III ISLAND
Early in the morning we will depart to navigate for approximately 8 hours through the Strait of Magellan, at a speed of 8-10 knots, in a motor boat for 10 passengers plus 3 crew members. In the afternoon we arrive the scientific camp on Carlos III Island where we will do a tour around the campsiteÂ’s outskirts and the whale observatory. Afterwards we do recive lectures about the camp, the Francisco Coloane Marine Park and the marine wildlife. In the afternoon we will enjoy a short excursion. Dinner and accommodation at the ecolodge Carlos III Island, in double rooms with shared bath room. Each room has a wood stove.


DAY 3 FRANCISCO COLOANE MARINE PARK - WHALE SOUND
After breakfast we ride in Kayak in to Rupert Islet, visit the marine fauna as for example  magellanic penguins and sea lions. We rerturn to the campsite for lunch. Afterwards we will sail towards the Santa Inés glacier. We return for dinner and accommode in the camp on Carlos III Island.


DAY 4 FRANCISCO COLOANE MARINE PARK – PUNTA ARENAS

After breakfast we will enjy our last kayak trip limited to weather conditions and time availability. Afterward we will departure from campsite. Lunch will be served on board.
At approximately 8:00 hr we will arrive in Punta Arenas. We will be drop off at our Hotel.

  


Note: The maximum capacity of clients is 10 pax. This expedition is operable between September and April due to climatic conditions. The program has to be connected before and afterwards with overnight stays in Punta Arenas. No previous experience is needed. The whole whale watching program can be operated with motor-boat only instead of Kayak excursions, too.
